Week 69

Hey everyone. It's been a good week out here!

The sad news first: we got transfer calls last night and Sister Hendricks is going to be leaving me :( I'm so so so sad but shes going to be great in her next area. I'll be staying here in a trio with Sister Armstrong and a sister from the Nauvoo historic sites mission.

Yesterday we had a big surprise birthday party at our favorites, the Humphreys. We had Canes and played games and had cake and it was the BEST. A good last night before the transfer.

Last Monday, we got to go on a beautiful hike with Jim! I'll attach pictures. It was so fun. We also helped a cute family that we've been working with move.

So sometimes we are really lazy and dont want to take out the trash because it's a huge hill. So we had quite a but of trash piled up but we came home the other day and both of us felt like we should take it out. So we left and I had 5 bags and Sister Hendricks had 2 giant boxes. We were lowkey struggling a little and we here this guy yell from the top floor asking if we need help. So he comes down and helps us take out the trash and we got to talk to him and we met with him yesterday and taught him!

This week we also did a lot of service. We helped the sweetest lady clean her house and a family moving into our ward needed help clearing out some trees.

Also, we got to go to a members house and do yoga. It was soooo fun.

We are all so sad over here to be split up. But we will see each other soon hopefully.

Heres to the last 6 weeks

Week 68

Hey everyone! Another week out here in Georgia!

We made a couple family mission plans with the best families ever! Love Suwanee.

We met the sweetest lady named Pam! She responded to our service ad and ws got to go over and help her clean her already spotless garage lol. She was so happy and excited and kept asking when she could come to our church. What a cutie.

This Wednesday we were in charge of mutual and we kicked off our youth missionary challenge! We have a lot of missionary activities they can do for a variety of points and it is young men vs young women! We are so excited about it. The youth in this ward are AMAZING!

Thursday, we got lost lol. We were having a very busy day and on the way to our next appointment, my phone died and we couldn't get it to turn back on  so we ended up in a random city and no idea where to go lol. We finally got my phone back up and running and we made it where we were supposed to go lol.

We had sisters conference over zoom this week! It was amazing! Our mission Presidents wife is an angel and she gave us so many insights and advice to help us to love ourselves and love those around us.

The best part of the week was probably the fireside we got to do with all yall in Kanab! I loved getting to see everyone and share just a little bit about my mission. I really loved hearing about Sister Haycock and Elder Carraway in their missions too.

I hope yall have the best week.
God loves you!

Week 67 - tornados, popcorn, and dog poo

What an eventful week!

Sunday, we got a call that because of the tornado there was a really bad storm and the power in our church was out so church was cancelled. It was really sad. So our favorites, the Humphreys, invited us over for a little sacrament meeting and it was awesome! We talked about fear and how to overcome it through Christ. Especially right now with all the craziness going on. And it got me thinking about how I overcome fear through prayer. In my life, everytime I feel afraid, I always pray and I feel so mu ch peace. Because I know that God has got me. Whether I'm afraid of getting sucked up in a tornado or I'm going down slick rock in a Rhino, (do you get that one dad?) God had always got me.

There is this super sweet lady named Kamie in our ward that we have been working with lately and we got to go read the Book of Mormon with her yesterday. She is a pretty new member and we try to go over once a week to read the Book of Mormon with her and help her in any way we can. She is from India and she is the sweetest and I always love seeing her. It has really hit me this week that missionary work really isn't just for those who aren't members of the church. A big reason why we are here is to help members that need help and new converts who have questions or anyone that needs us! It is amazing all the wonderful people we get to meet and serve.

Something fun we've been doing is we make little bags with popcorn in them and a note on them and anytime we are going somewhere, we stop at a few members houses on the way and drop them off. It's been a great way to meet members that we haven't yet and if they don't answer, we can just leave their bag on their door.

We've been doing some service as well this week which has been a huge blessing. We love getting to get out and serve and meet new people. I stepped in some major dog poo doing service though so RIP. We've also been going to the park to chalk on the sidewalk some uplifting quotes and we've been going to the mall to talk to people! It's been so great!

I hope all of y'all have been reading through the talks from conference again! I was re reading the talk given by Matt Holland and I LOVED this quote
"Regardless of the causes of our worst hurts and heartaches, the ultimate source of relief is the same: Jesus Christ. He alone holds the full power and healing balm to correct every mistake, right every wrong, adjust every imperfection, mend every wound, and deliver every delayed blessing."

I know the Savior is here for each of you. He has been my relief in so many ways.

Sorry this is a long one! Love y'all!

Week 66

Alright here's some highlights for the week!

We got a pet cat! He just shows up every day and we give him some tuna or gold fish lol.

Zone conference! We finally got to go in person and it was so fun. We talked a lot about trials and how they are an opportunity to grow. And we talked a lot about having an eternal perspective which is something I love. It's hard to see the full picture when we are looking to close at it. We also got our flu shots there and got to play volleyball.

We got to be in charge of the young women activity this week! We had a fire and shared the story of Lehi and Nephi when they were in prison and were surrounded by fire and protected. It's a cool one if you haven't read it in a while. We love the young women and all the youth in this ward. They are amazing!

We had exchanges in Gainesville! Sister Hendricks and I went up to Gainesville with Sister Venema and Sister Cole and we all worked up there for the day. We got to meet the sweetest lady that they do bible studies with and do some chalking at the park.

And of course, general conference!! We got to watch each session at a different members house. The messages they gave were so amazing! I got so many of my questions answered by the things they said. One of the themes I noticed was how the gospel of Jesus Christ is what will bring us peace. I'm so glad I've had this time on my mission to really understand what the gospel of Jesus Christ is and to teach others how it can change their life too.
