Week 52

Hey everyone! Happy Monday!

This week was transfers! Sister Flower and I are staying together here in Dacula! Sister Venema left and we now have Sister Straddeck here with Sister Montour. So fun we love Dacula.

We've been doing a lot with the members this week and we love them all. We got to have dinner at the bishops house, at the Giddings house, and yesterday we had church and lunch at the Maggerts house. They made the best chicken quesadillas I've ever had.

We got to teach David at his house this week. He is so cute. There are 5 little kids living there and they are all the sweetest.

We also had the chance to go to the Gregersons house and talk with one of their friends that hasn't been to church in a while and just got out of prison. He was a really cool guy.

We had a zone meeting on Sunday and it was in person. Yeehaw so exciting.

The saddest thing about this week is that it was President and Sister Marsh's last week. They leave today. We had a zoom call with them last night and their son gave us a training and then the Marshs talked to us for a bit. It is so sad to see them go. I've learned so much from both of them and they have been like my parents away from home out here in Georgia. I'm going to miss them so much. It is crazy the amazing relationships you're able to make while on a mission.

Hope yall have the best week!

Week 51

Hello! Can't believe its P day again! Time is flying. We are getting transfer calls tonight and it is so weird that another transfer has gone by already.

This week was a busy one! Wednesday we went out to eat lunch at this cute little sandwich shop before we drove down to Atlanta for some appointments. Then we came back to go to a dinner with some members. They have the cutest little kids.

Thursday we had zone conference and zone softball! That was such a fun day. President and Sister Marsh gave amazing trainings. It is so sad that this will be their last zone conference and that they are leaving here in just a few short weeks. Going to miss them so much! We played softball and that was so much fun. Going to miss that too when the Marshs leave!

We got to have another lesson with David this week! He is doing well. He and his family are so cute.

This week we did a lot of puzzles. It is kind of embarrassing how many we have. But it's something fun for us to do so oh well.

We also found this amazing park this week. It was probably one of the most beautiful parks I've ever seen. Then, the fireflies started to come out and it was even more amazing. I love Georgia!!!

"God sees success as our attempts to become more like him. While these attempts may not always produce the results we desire, God is pleased with our sincere efforts."

Have a great week!

Week 50

Hello everyone. Another week gone. We are slowly getting back to some normal activities.

We got to have sisters p day last Monday so we got together with all the sisters in our zone to play some games and eat food. It was quite a time.

We did a lot of fun things this week to keep us sane. We had a picnic at the park and it was so warm and so pretty and I'm just trying to get tan. So yeah.

Also, the other night we came home and there were fireflies EVERYWHERE. So we went firefly hunting and caught a bunch of them. I'll attach a video of it.

We played tennis volleyball which is just volleyball over a tennis net. Surprisingly it is a lot harder than normal volleyball. And we also played some fun games this week. Just trying to stay sane over here.

We haven't been able to teach our friend David very much but we were finally able to get ahold of him this week. He told us he didnt want us to come to his house ro reach him because of the virus. But when we called this last time, he said he lost his Book of Mormon and he said that we could come to his house to give him a new one! So we went over and got to finally meet him and his family! They are the cutest little African family. We hope to start teaching him at his house soon.

This week I've been studying a lot about obedience. And I came across this quote that I loved. "We must give up our freedom voluntarily in order to know the freedom that only Christ can give." The longer I'm on my mission the more I realize how commandments are not restrictive. They are freeing. The more we submit our wills with Heavenly Father's, the happier we become. How blessed we are to have a Father in Heaven that loves us enough to give us commandments. "A God who is asking nothing of us, is making nothing of us."

I hope y'all have a wonderful week!

Also, opinions on elders being able to wear blue shirts and no ties?? I think it's pretty fun.

Week 49

Another good one out here in Georgia. I have loved that it is summer now! Georgia summers are the best!

We got to help this woman named Vanessa move this week. She is a sweet lady that used to be taught by the missionaries.

We had exchanges with the senior STLs on Tuesday. We just went to the park and sat in the sun and talked about the work. I got to go with Sister Huang who was reassigned here from the Tahiti mission. She's amazing.

We had a couple calls with some people. We met this lady Milan and she is so funny. She thinks I should be a blogger lol. We also got to talk to another lady named Ebanie. So sweet. We are hoping to get to have some lessons with them this week.

This week, we made a calendar with one fun thing to do on it every day. We've only had a couple days so far but it is really helping me to not feel so crazy all the time lol.

We made a bunch of cookies and delivered them to some members on Friday. It was a blast. Then we went to Chili's. Its nice to get to sit down in a restaurant again.

The biggest miracle of this week is the Giddings family. We went to their house for dinner Saturday and for sacrament on Sunday. They are the funniest and nicest people ever. Wow this ward is amazing.

Anyways. I hope all y'all have the best week!

Week 48

Hey everyone. Another week gone here in Georgia.

This week was a good one! We were able to help this couple move into our ward. They are moving here all the way from Idaho. It was very fun. I need to do a few more pushups though cause some of that stuff was heavy. They're so sweet though and we are excited to have them in our ward.

This week we were able to get in contact with a guy named David that used to be taught by missionaries. He is from Liberia and he's super cool. He said, "Africa is way better than Georgia" lol.

We had interviews with President and Sister Marsh this week! They went really well. It's crazy to think that these are his last interviews since he is leaving the beginning of July. So sad.

I also saw my first firefly of this year! It was very exciting because it means summer is officially here!

Yesterday we planned a 5th Sunday missionary devotional over zoom call for our ward. We asked a couple people from the ward to speak and we spoke as well and it went so well! We were really excited because the other 2 members spoke about everything we wanted them to and we didnt even ask for them to say those things! So it was a success and we were very happy with how it turned out. A nice family also had us over for sacrament.

We had some outside time yesterday and we decided to walk around downtown Lawrenceville and look at all the little shops. It has been the most beautiful weather lately and it was so nice. As we were walking, this lady starts yelling at us from across this intersection and telling us to be careful because there are protests just 2 blocks down. She tells us we should pray for the town that it will stay safe so we told her we would and she says "no let's do it right now" so shes just yelling her prayer across this intersection so we prayed with her there lol. I love the south.

A verse that has helped me mucho this week is Mosiah 24:15
"And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord"
Being on a mission during this virus is not easy and there are struggles. But as we submit to the will of the Lord and be cheerful and have patience that He is going to provide for us, our burdens will be made light and everything will be okay.

Have the best week ever!
