Christmas and Biking

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope it was a good holiday for yall!

For Christmas Eve we de-junked our apartment. New year new us or whatever. Then we went to the church and made cinnamon rolls and then had district council and played lots of Christmas games. It was a blast.

Christmas we got to go over to the Mourdocks. A senior couple in our mission. They have a cute breakfast and then they go around and have everyone open their gifts. It was so fun!

The other sisters took the car on exchanges for a couple days so we biked for the first time here! It's been a while. Love it.

I got to go on exchanges with Sister Cook! We had the best time.

Not a lot to say this week but I hope yall have a Happy New Year!

I've been studying about goals this week since it's almost the new year! And theres a scripture in Mark 9:23 that says
"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth"
So as we ask God to help us with our righteous goals, He will make it possible for us to accomplish it.

Talk to yall next week!

Week 25

It's been a pretty action packed week.

We had zone softball on Monday, temple trip on Wednesday, zone conference on Thursday, branch Christmas party on Friday, and interviews on Sunday. What a party

On Monday after FHE we went and got shakes and the guy there was SHOOK that Sister Cook is from Idaho. Like yes it's a real state.

On Tuesday night all the sisters in our zone slept over before the temple trip. It was very fun. We cleaned our apartment so good before they came. We were on the ground scraping hair out of the carpet so they wouldn't have to sleep in it lol. We also had bible study. That went well even though only on person showed up.

The temple was amazing as always. And we went to Chick Fil A after and they gave us gift cards for a free cookie so double blessings.

We had our branch Christmas party on Friday. There was an ugly sweater contest that we judged and a white elephant gift exchange. Sister Cook got this Jacob from Twilight action figure. We were so excited. #teamjacobforever. Would recommend serving in a YSA lol.

We did service on Saturday at the food pantry. All the people are so sweet there. It was a lot of fun and I loved meeting all the people there.

Yesterday we had the Christmas program at church and interviews with the mission President. And we had another white elephant with our zone. The hot item was a bag of deer corn.

I'm very excited for Christmas and I hope all yall are having a great one too! Open your gifts, keep it real, and remember the reason for the season.

Lights of Joy

Hello everyone. Another week gone. This week flew by even though it's been pretty dead with finals week.

We had bible study on Tuesday! We tried to have it last week but no one showed up... but we had a much better turn out this week. One of the members is a cop and showed us his video of him being tazed. It was pretty good. Also on Tuesday I fell down the stairs on campus and almost lost my hydro. But it's fine

We had a few lessons this week. Christopher is still doing well. We met a few new people that we will hopefully meet with pretty soon.

There were these 1000s of lights by our apartment so we went and looked at them all. It was insane but so fun.

We got to tract in the rain a little bit this week. This is the most mild winter I'll probably ever have. Just a little rain but I kinda like tracting in the rain anyways.

The branch had a winter ball this weekend so we went and helped them set up by painting the windows. I'll attach a pic of the ones Sister Cook and I painted. They look pretty good to be honest.

Saturday we got to go do some service raking leaves for a member of another ward. It was really fun. There are a lot of leaves here in Georgia but we got it

I got to see 2 people from the Athens branch yesterday! They are home for break. It was so good to see them again. We also got to go to this Christmas concert yesterday.

This week I would invite yall to read the Living Christ and write out a "because of Him I..." we did that in Sunday School and it was very cool.

See yall next week!

I shook Elder Bednar's hand

What a week yall. Holy cow.

So on Monday we had a P day with our zone. We went to this facility our stake president owns and played dodge ball. It was pretty fun. He brought us all pizza. He's such a nice guy. Then we had FHE with the branch amd we played bingo. Pretty fun. I never won. I guess all the years practicing at grandma's house didn't help me here.

We were able to meet with this guy Christopher this week. The other sisters were teaching him before they left and so we were able to meet with him. He is so sweet. Such a nice guy and just so ready for the gospel.

I hit my 5 month mark on Tuesday. Hard to believe I've been on my mission for 5 months already. I gave a talk in church yesterday about why I came on a mission actually. I never thought I would ever leave the MTC and here I am 5 months in and training. Wild.

It was a pretty long week. There hasn't been a lot of people on campus because of finals so it's been a little rough but we have made the best of it!

It has been a really spiritually uplifting week for lack of a better term haha. But the absolute highlight definitely was Elder Bednar coming to visit our mission.

So we were all lined up outside ready for a pic and Elder Bednar rolled up in his car and it was so cool. He's shorter than I thought. But as soon as he stepped out of the car it was like a huge wave of the Spirit. Theres no denying that he is an apostle of the Lord.

We had like a question and answer with him and it was very cool. My takeaway from the whole thing was just to accept Gods plan for me. It was a very cool experience. After it was over, we all got to shake his hand. I was nervous.

I got to see my best friends Sister Ferris and Sister Trussell. :( I miss them. But they are killing it in their areas. I got pictures with them but I forgot to have them send them to me... oops.

Also! I hope everyone watched the Christmas devotional! If you didn't then go do it.

I love you all. Thanks for your support and emails. ❤

"The infinite and eternal Creator of light and life knows you! He is mindful of you.
Yes, God loves you this very day and always.
He is not waiting to love you until you have overcome your weaknesses and bad habits. He loves you today with a full understanding of your struggles. He is aware that you reach up to Him in heartfelt and hopeful prayer. He knows of the times you have held onto the fading light and believed—even in the midst of growing darkness. He knows of your sufferings. He knows of your remorse for the times you have fallen short or failed. And still He loves you."

Thanksgiving

t's been a while since my last email! But not much has really happened. Other than Thanksgiving or whatever.

Last Saturday we had service. We help pack bags at a good pantry and that was a lot of fun.

Last Sunday, I was eating some mac and cheese and I felt something hard and my filling had come out. So I had a bug hole in my tooth that kinda hurt honestly. But we were able to get into the dentist on Tuesday. He was very nice and did a great job. I'm all fixed up now.

This week I drove for the first time on my mission. It was really scary. Atlanta drivers are not awesome but we made it. Kinda nice to be able to drive again. It's been like 5 months since the last time i did.

I got to talk to Sister Ferris and sister Trussell on the phone this week and that was so fun. I miss being with them a lot but I'm glad I'm here too. I get to see them this Saturday!

Thanksgiving was so good! We went to our branch president's house. His whole family was there and they had really good smoked turkey. After dinner they all sat around playing the guitar and singing songs and it was just a really fun day. After dinner we went and played pickle ball with some members in another ward which was fun. I'm not very good at that game.

We went to the doctor on Friday because Sister younger has an ear infection. That was a long day. The doctor was a very long wait and we had to go over to Walmart to pick up some medicine and it was black Friday so pretty crazy but we got it done. And I'm glad she's going to get feeling better.

We went to the mall on Friday and got pictures with our district and Santa and talked to some people there at black Friday. It was wild in there.

Yesterday after church we had a break the fast and everyone brought their Thanksgiving leftovers. It was so good.

It's been hard this week because campus has been closed and we've been trying to find stuff to do but it is back open today so we are excited.

It has really tried my faith this week to not have anyone to talk to and kind of feeling like we were just wasting time. But I have faith that God will provide and that everything I'm doing is part of his plan for me and that I'm going to grow even of there isn't anyone here for us to talk to. It really reminded me of a scripture that I read this week as part of Come Follow Me. Its 1 Peter 1:6-7 and it says

"Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:"

I know that the trials of our faith bring us close to Jesus Christ and I'm grateful for that.

Have a great week!
